NEWARK, NJ — Essex County College is offering a series of short-term training programs in the rapidly growing allied health career fields. Thanks to the U.S. Department of Education’s Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, these programs are offered tuition-free to qualified individuals.
Remote instruction, with on-site clinical lab classes, begin May 19; additional start dates are set for July 19, Aug. 30 and Sept. 6.
The college’s Community, Continuing Education and Workforce Development programs are offering classes to assist residents reentering the workforce through its Training Inc. program. Classes are being offered in certified clinical medical assistant, certified nursing assistant and patient care technician.

“These classes are perfect for dislocated workers and our underserved population seeking to enter the health care fields,” Training Inc. Director Mitra Choudhury said. “Our setup of 80-percent virtual instruction and with a number of scheduled class start dates, we will be able to train more students and provide them with opportunities to enter excellent growth fields.”
