NEWARK, NJ — Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. unveiled a replica of a historic Indian Trails Plaque next to the Essex County Courthouse in Newark on Thursday, Dec. 28. The plaque shows old Indian trails through the city of Newark and how they relate to current major thoroughfares. It was originally dedicated in 1951, but disappeared from the park in the 1970s.

Producing the replica was funded with a grant from the Essex County Recreation and Open Space Trust Fund. With the County Executive are, from left, Essex County Parks Director Dan Salvante, NJ State Sen. and Deputy Chief of Staff Teresa Ruiz, Newark history enthusiast Liz DelTufo, Freeholder Len Luciano, and Newark residents Ron Wallace and Julius Spohn.
