VOORHEES, NJ — New Jersey American Water has announced that William “Andy” Lewis has been named senior director of operations for the company’s North region. In this role, Lewis will be responsible for overseeing the company’s water and wastewater systems serving 32 municipalities in Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Warren counties.
“Andy’s strong background in a variety of operational and support disciplines as well as his experience leading business growth will be a critical benefit to the Northern Operations team,” said Thomas Shroba, NJAW’s vice president of operations.
As senior director of North Operations, Lewis will be responsible for water production, field customer service, water transmission and distribution operations, and overseeing local construction projects. Lewis previously served as director of growth and development for American Water’s Military Service Group, which owns and operates 50-year water and wastewater utility contracts under the Department of Defense’s Utilities Privatization program. Prior to that role, he held multiple titles within the Military Services Group including utility manager, regional manager of operations, regional manager of capital programs and director of technical support.
Prior to joining American Water in 2006, Lewis served as general manager for the Jefferson Regional Water Authority in Ohio. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and has certifications in water treatment.
