Pillar College hosts open house for aspiring K-6 teachers

NEWARK, NJ — Pillar College, a Christian-based institution of higher learning, is hosting an open house for individuals interested in obtaining a bachelor of arts degree in elementary (K-6) education. Pillar College has the distinction of being the only college in Newark — there are a total of six — offering an accredited degree program in elementary education leading to New Jersey State Certification. The open house will take place on Wednesday, March 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Pillar College Student Center, located at 60 Park Place in Newark, and offers interested students an overview of life as a teacher, as well insights regarding admissions and post-graduate employment.

“We are thrilled to offer a degree program in elementary education,” Pillar College President David Schroeder said. “Our four-year program meets a critical need that begins right here in Newark and our hope is that many graduates will remain here, sharing their talents and shaping future leaders in this vibrant city that is currently experiencing a renaissance.”
