Police arrest shooting suspect

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police arrested Jahmeen E. Stallings, 36, of Elizabeth, on Tuesday, Aug. 23, for an aggravated assault shooting in the 800-block of South 18th Street in Newark.  

On Saturday, Aug. 20, at approximately midnight, a 30-year old male victim walked into the Newark Police Division’s 5th Precinct to report that he had been shot. The victim was transported to Rutgers University Medical Center for treatment.

Detectives developed evidence that Stallings is a suspect in this aggravated assault shooting. Bail for Stallings has been set at $150,000.

Stallings is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
