NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a double shooting that resulted in the death of Sirree Samod Scales, 26, of Raleigh, N.C.
Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Aug. 23, Scales and a woman who is 9 months pregnant were shot in the 100 block of Seymour Avenue in Newark. Scales was pronounced dead at 12:42 am.
The 23-year-old Newark woman sustained non-fatal injuries.
At this time, the investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
