Three Newark businesses temporarily closed due to code violations

NEWARK, NJ — Three Newark businesses have been temporarily closed, pending proper licensing by the owners.

On Wednesday, Aug. 24, Newark police conducted store inspections along Lyons Avenue, Maple Avenue and Chancellor Avenue to inspect for code violations.

The following stores were temporarily closed due to violations:

  • Brother Beauty Supply Store at 242 Lyons Ave.;
  • Texas Fried Chicken at 250 Lyons Ave.; and
  • a medical office at 410 Chancellor Ave.

Code enforcement operations are among the Department of Public Safety’s ongoing initiatives developed in response to citizen complaints along business corridors. As part of the initiative, businesses are inspected for code violations.
