New BOE sworn in

NUTLEY, NJ — At the Nutley reorganization meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 5, four Nutley residents were officially sworn in as Nutley Board of Education members. Incumbents Ryan Kline and Deborah J. Russo were sworn in for three-year terms, and newcomer Salvatore Balsamo was sworn in as the newest member of the board. Balsamo has been a teacher for 10 years at Eastside High School in Paterson.

Also sworn in was Brenda S. Sherman, who ran unopposed to fill the remaining term of former BOE member Kenneth Reilly; Sherman will serve for one year.

The Nutley BOE elected Charlie Kucinski as its president and Daniel Carnicella as vice president for 2016. The board also includes members Fred Scalera, Lisa Danchak-Martin and Ryan Kline.

The Nutley School District serves approximately 4,100 students in kindergarten through grade 12.
