Lauren Holden NHS senior, girls’ soccer

“Lauren started every game in four years at sweeper for us. It is a huge accomplishment. I truly feel that she is one of the best defenders in the state. You really can’t replace a player like Lauren. It is going to be very difficult to do so, but she gave the younger players on the team someone to look up to with her work ethic and good play. She will be attending Marist next year and I really feel that she will be able to help them immediately.
— Mike DiPiano – Head coach, girls’ soccer

How does the team get psyched up for a game?
We have the block rocker that we connect our phones to and listen to our soccer playlist. Dip gives us an influential pep talk in our huddle.

What’s your best on-field memory?
My favorite memory was this past season when I took the free kick that made us defeat MKA in double overtime.

The Women’s National Team is a powerhouse. Have you been inspired by them?
Yes, the National Team inspires me to become a better soccer player every day.
