JP Maruri, NHS senior boys soccer

What got you interested in playing soccer?
“Watching my older brother and watching my dad play soccer is what got me most interested in playing soccer.”

What are your favorite memories as a player?
“My favorite memory as a soccer player was playing in a state cup game. We went to penalties and our goalie was nervous to play in goal, so I played in the net and ended up saving three penalties to win the game.”

Do you or the team have any pregame rituals?
“Yes, before our games I listen to my favorite hype-up pregame songs and always say a prayer before I step onto the field.”

Who are your role models and why?
“If I had to pick one role model, I would have to say my dad. Being the embodiment of hard work, he taught me that
anything is possible as long as I put my mind and effort to it.”

Do you have a favorite team or athlete, and why?
“My favorite athlete is Messi. Being an undersized player he always defied the odds and showed what it took to be great.”

“I mostly listen to rap music. My favorite musical artist is New York rapper Lil Tjay.”

What is your dream car?
“My dream car is a Rolls Royce Phantom.”

What are your post-graduate plans?
“For post-graduation, I hope to continue my soccer career, study finance or business and play at one of the schools currently showing interest.”
