Rec’s dodgeball games will benefit Gail’s Angels

NUTLEY, NJ — Students in grades seven through 12 have the opportunity to compete in a dodgeball tournament at Nutley High School to benefit Gail’s Angels. The event will be held Friday, Nov. 20.
“The Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation is proud to sponsor student driven fundraisers,” said Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci. “It is inspiring to watch our young people give back and dedicate their efforts to such a great cause”

Gail’s Angels Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing support to families that have a mom with breast cancer and also provide care for their autistic or special-needs child.

The program was founded in 2007 to honor the memory of Gail E. Babai who died of breast cancer in 2006. As the primary family-care provider, the foundation chairman, James R. Babai, witnessed first-hand the difficulties of providing care during his wife’s illness. James also witnessed the challenges faced by other families that were not only experiencing similar challenges but, in addition, had a special-needs child. Gail’s Angels was founded to help these families.

Teams can be no more than 10 players, with a minimum of two females per team. Two divisions will be available:
• Division 1, for students in grades seven and eight; and
• Division 2, for high school students and adults.

The games will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Awards will be given to winners of each division and to the team with the best uniforms.

Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For registration information contact Emily Holden at [email protected] or Breanna DeMaio at [email protected].
