NUTLEY, NJ — The Parks and Recreation Trout Fishing Contest has been an annual event in Nutley for 37 years. This event brings youngsters together for some fresh air and fun.
“Over 300 fish will be placed in the Mud Hole for the contest,” said Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci.
Nutley residents in grades one through eight are invited to participate in this fun-filled event. The event takes place at Memorial Park, the Mud Hole, Passaic and Vreeland avenues, where hundreds of youngsters will compete for special prizes. The event will be Saturday, May 7, beginning at 8:30 a.m., rain or shine.
Experienced adult fishermen will be on hand to assist the children throughout the event. No prizes will be given out after the official weighing station is closed. Don’t forget your fishing pole and a chair.
“This special fishing event provides an opportunity for families and friends to share fun and quality time together while learning about one of our nation’s favorite pastimes,” said Tucci.
