17-year-old from East Orange fatally shot at Halloween party

NEWARK, NJ — The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the death of Mouctar Toure, a 17-year-old from East Orange who was fatally shot at a Halloween party in Newark, according to a Nov. 1 press release.

On Sunday, Oct. 31, at approximately 11:47 p.m., Toure was at a large Halloween party in an apartment building on 4th Avenue in Newark when there was a report of shots fired. Police were dispatched to the area where they found Toure suffering from a gunshot wound. Toure was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 2:06 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
