‘Operation Credible Source’ yields drug arrest in Orange

ORANGE, NJ — The Orange Police Department’s Street Crimes Gang and Narcotics Task Force recently executed a search warrant pursuant to “Operation Credible Source,” which resulted in the seizure of crack-cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in amounts that signal the intent to distribute, according to an Oct. 2 press release from the Orange Police Department. The operation resulted from an investigation into the illegal distribution of narcotics at certain locations in Orange by Newark resident Akeem Isaacs, according to police.

Orange Police Director Todd Warren and Chief Law Enforcement Officer Vincent Vitiello reported that task force members acted on information that Isaacs was involved in illegal narcotics distribution that endangered the citizens of Orange. Detectives have been monitoring and investigating individuals like Isaacs, who come from neighboring jurisdictions to Orange with the purpose of using the city as a safe haven for illegal narcotics dealings. Detectives conducted covert surveillance and reportedly witnessed several sales of illegal narcotics from Isaacs to other individuals.

In an effort to ensure that the source of dangerous and illegal narcotics in Orange is eliminated, detectives obtained the location of Isaacs’ residence on Sanford Avenue in Newark and received a search warrant from a New Jersey Superior Court Judge in compliance with state and federal constitutional guidelines. The task force obtained the illegal contraband and arrested and charged Isaacs without incident.

“Thanks to our watchful residents and the relentless efforts of the Orange Police Department, an individual who endangered the families of Orange is off the streets,” Orange Mayor Dwayne Warren said. “We will not allow criminals to prey on our community — or hide from justice in Orange. Please continue to call the tip line as it is an important public safety tool of the Orange Police Department.”
