Orange woman killed in pedestrian incident in East Orange

EAST ORANGE, NJ — The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the East Orange Police Department are investigating a vehicular incident that resulted in the death of Lucia Saint-Vil, 62, of Orange, according to a Jan. 16 press release from the ECPO.

On Wednesday, Jan. 15, at approximately 9:48 a.m., the victim was struck while crossing the street at South Harrison Street and Central Avenue in East Orange.

The 71-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. She is not being named at this time because she was not charged with a crime. However, she was given four tickets for careless driving, failing to stop to allow a pedestrian to cross in a marked crosswalk and two violations related to tinted windows.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
