ORANGE, NJ — STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges’ Class of 2021 will graduate June 25, with Ibrahima Sacko as valedictorian and Sophia Estape as salutatorian.
Sacko earned a grade-point average of 4.49 and plans to attend Rutgers University–Newark to major in biology. During his tenure at STEM Academy, he participated in boys soccer as captain for the 2020-21 season; the Project Lead the Way Conference in Indianapolis, Ind.; the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New Jersey math competition, taking first place in NJ; STEM Student Council; and National Honor Society. He also served as a STEM student ambassador and a math tutor, and received an honorable mention Peace Island Award in English.
Estape earned a GPA of 4.44 and plans to attend Rutgers University–New Brunswick to major in environmental science. During her tenure at STEM Academy, she participated in girls soccer as captain for the 2020-21 season, concert band, Rutgers Mini Medical School Program, Women’s Transportation Seminar’s Transportation YOU program, NJ SEEDS, Rho Kappa Honor Society for social studies, The Hope Foundation, AMTNJ Math Competition, winning first place in NJ; the Project Lead the Way Showcase, the Congressional Black Caucus and National Honor Society. She also served as a STEM student ambassador and an English tutor, and received an honorable mention Peace Island Award in English.
