Avoid caregiver overload

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Attend a seminar on caregiver overload on Monday, Oct. 17, at 2:30 p.m. in the Winchester Gardens Auditorium, 333 Elmwood Ave. in Maplewood. Caregiver overload occurs when the tasks that are required to care for a loved one build up to the point of being too stressful. The danger of taking on too much as a care partner or family caregiver is that in most instances the caregiver’s health and well-being is at risk. Many caregivers neglect their own health and begin to feel overwhelmed, depressed, exhausted and isolated, which can lead to problems eating and sleeping.

Join Dawn Howard of the Saint Barnabas Medical Center Transitions of Care team to discuss the common stressors associated with caregiving and what you can do to help alleviate it.
