MAPLEWOOD, NJ — On Friday, Dec. 13, Jeff Rottman, owner and founder of GR Pottery Forms, provided masterclasses to Columbia High School students taking ceramics courses. Rottman demonstrated the craft of creating plates and bowls and discussed starting his business and the value of entrepreneurship. Rottman explained how he applied a new material, medium-density fiberboard, in mold-making that has come to revolutionize the field of ceramic arts.
“I liked Mr. Rottman’s demonstration because I thought it was very informative,” CHS junior Alexa Valenzuela said. “It was interesting to hear about how he made a business out of his hobby of making pottery.”
“I enjoyed Mr. Rottman’s demonstration and found him to be a very creative person who knows how to use his tools and resources in the most efficient way to create the best work,” CHS junior Gabrielle Redfern said.
