Gainsburg to discuss being an LGBT ally at SOPL

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — The South Orange Public Library will host a virtual discussion with Jeannie Gainsburg, the author of a guidebook for being an ally to the LGBTQ+ communities, on Monday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. on Zoom.

To access this event, either call 929-205-6099 or download the Zoom app to your device, then enter access code 811-8413-9464, followed by password 908523. The discussion can also be viewed at a later date on the library’s YouTube page.

Gainsburg published “The Savvy Ally: A Guide for Becoming a Skilled LGBTQ+ Advocate” earlier this year as a resource filled with practical and useful tools for LGBTQ+ advocacy, presented in humorous, easy-to-understand prose.

In this discussion, which will include audience participation, Gainsburg will talk about her inspiration for writing the book, share some common LGBTQ+ etiquette bloopers to avoid, and offer some savvy ally tips.

Gainsburg, a graduate of Columbia High School, is an educational trainer and consultant in the field of LGBTQ+ inclusion and effective allyship.
