SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Interested in the future of downtown South Orange? The South Orange Village Center Alliance is searching for two new people to join its board of directors. Candidates must be a South Orange business owner, resident and/or property owner to apply. Responsibilities entail attending one monthly board meeting and joining at least one committee.

Interested candidates should email resumes to Executive Director Julie Doran at [email protected] along with an email or cover letter highlighting why they are interested in South Orange and what experience or skills they would bring to the board. Contact Doran by Oct. 15 if interested.

SOVCA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making downtown South Orange a vibrant place to live, work and enjoy through events, beautification and advocacy for the downtown business district. SOVCA’s mission is to strengthen the vitality of the downtown business district by supporting existing businesses and attracting new ones to improve the village’s retail mix; raising funds for improvement and public art projects; producing events that complement existing stores and services; maintaining a clean, safe and pedestrian-friendly downtown; and helping the governing body manage new development while preserving the attractive architectural legacy of the downtown area.
