Lace up and race with Maplewood in Motion

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The Maplewood Lions Club sponsors its 17th annual Maplewood in Motion 5K and Kids Fun Run on Sunday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. beginning on Maplewood Avenue in front of Freeman’s Fish Market. Bring your family and friends to run, jog and even walk through the beautiful, tree-lined certified 5K course throughout Maplewood. Strollers are welcome. Register in person

The Maplewood in Motion 5K race continues to remember veteran causes after U.S. Marine Scott Wenger, a Columbia High School graduate of the Class of 1998, took his own life in 2015. Since then many runners look forward to the opportunity to remember Wenger, while also contributing to the improvement of veterans’ services and their quality of life.

For the second year, The Maplewood Lions includes the Bob Miller Oysterfest to its list of beneficiaries. This cause, in memory of Maplewoodian Robert J. Miller, brings awareness to melanoma, and provides support for research and care for those diagnosed with melanoma. The annual Oysterfest, which took place Sept. 16, provides free cancer screenings by dermatologists and information on skin products and prevention.
