Maplecrest Station Post Office operations suspended

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — In the interest of public and employee safety, retail customer service operations have been temporarily suspended at the Maplecrest Station Post Office, 1767 Springfield Ave. in Maplewood. A vehicle accidentally ran into the front door of the unoccupied building at approximately midnight on Wednesday, Aug. 23. Maplecrest Post Office box holders can pick up their mail at the Maplewood Main Post Office, 195 Maplewood Ave. Mail delivery to street addresses in Maplewood remains unaffected. No serious injuries were reported.

As alternatives, retail customer services are available at the nearby Maplewood Main, Vauxhall, Irvington and South Orange post offices. As a customer convenience, stamp booklets are sold in Maplewood at face value at the following local businesses: Walgreens, 1633 Springfield Ave., and Wells Fargo Bank, 187 Maplewood Ave.

No mail was damaged as a result of the accident and no timetable has been established for the resumption of retail services at the leased postal facility on Springfield Avenue.
