MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Join the Maplewood Garden Club on Monday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker St., when Lisa Roper presents “The Chanticleer Gravel Garden.”
Roper is the Gravel Garden and Ruin horticulturist at Chanticleer, a contemporary garden within a historic setting in Wayne, Pa. She has worked and photographed Chanticleer for the past 26 years, and for the last five years has been developing the Gravel Garden, a south-facing, gently sloping garden planted with a mix of fine-textured grasses, silver-leafed Mediterranean plants, hardy succulents, and California and South African annuals. During her presentation, she will share gardening techniques, favorite plant combinations, design intent, and how she uses photography to inform the evolution of the garden. Lisa Roper’s talk follows a short business meeting and is free and open to all.
