Maplewood offers help for home repairs

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The mayor and Township Committee invite you to apply for Maplewood’s Affordable Housing Program, under which you can receive up to $20,000 for repairs. Eligible uses of funds include roofs and foundations, heating and electrical, windows and insulation, and plumbing.

If you live in Maplewood, own your home and your total gross annual household income falls below the income limit for your household size, you may qualify to participate in the program. For a household size of one, the maximum yearly income cannot exceed $50,744; for a household size of two, the maximum yearly income cannot exceed $57,993; for a household size of three, the maximum yearly income cannot exceed $65,242; for a household size of four, the maximum yearly income cannot exceed $72,492; for a household size of five, the maximum yearly income cannot exceed $78,291; for a household size of six, the maximum yearly income cannot exceed $84,090; for a household size of seven, the maximum yearly income cannot exceed $89,890; and for a household size of eight, the maximum yearly income cannot exceed $95,689.

There is no cost to apply and it does not affect your credit score. Funds are provided as a no-interest, 10-year forgivable loan; and there is no monthly payment. A professional inspector oversees the process.
