Pedestrian struck by car in Maplewood

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — On Sept. 21 at approximately 12:10 p.m., Maplewood police responded to the 7-Eleven on Valley Street on a report of a pedestrian being struck by a car, according to a release from police.

Upon the officers’ arrival, they discovered that a 15-year-old female had been struck in front of the store. A 19-year-old female had been parking her vehicle in the parking space in front of the building when the vehicle lunged forward, striking the 15-year-old who was walking in between the parking spaces and the building.

The vehicle struck and pushed the 15-year-old to the side and then struck the building before coming to a rest. The victim had a complaint of pain to the leg and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
