SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Seton Hall University’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be Tuesday, Dec. 5, on campus, 400 South Orange Ave., South Orange. Launching this year’s Christmas at The Hall, the day’s events will begin with Mass in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at 5 p.m., followed by the Blessing of the Creche at 5:30, and the tree lighting ceremony at 5:45 on the University Green.
The 60-foot Norway spruce, adorned with 43,000 Christmas lights, will illuminate the celebration where participants can enjoy free hot chocolate, Christmas carols by campus choirs and pictures with the Seton Hall Pirate.
In addition to this year’s Christmas tree festivities, the university’s Division of Volunteer Efforts is holding its annual food and toy drives. A DOVE table will be on the University Green during the event to receive donations for those less fortunate in the community and in Appalachia.
