SOMa Action holds ‘Flip The House’ mobilization

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — SOMa Action, a grassroots activist group based in South Orange and Maplewood, will hold a meeting to mobilize volunteers to help “Flip The House” at the Burgdorff Center, 10 Durand Road, Maplewood, on Sunday, March 4, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Representatives from grassroots resistance groups in Congressional Districts 7 and 11 will recruit volunteers to canvass, phone bank and engage in other voter registration and education activities. The meeting will equip activists with the tools and knowledge for successful voter outreach.

“If you can’t wait for 2020 to vote against Trump, then come join us to take the House back this November,” SOMa Action President Lily Hawkins said in a press release. “Ousting the Republican incumbents is a blow we can strike to win common sense gun safety, preserve affordable health care and environmental protections, create a fair tax system that does not punish New Jersey middle and working class families, and end the attacks on women, people of color, immigrants and the LGBTQ community.”
