MAPLEWOOD, NJ — SOMA Action invites residents of Maplewood, South Orange and surrounding communities to attend “From Town Hall to the Halls of Congress: Effective Advocacy in the Trump Era” on Wednesday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. at Morrow Memorial Church, 600 Ridgewood Ave. in Maplewood. The panel, moderated by Lisa Davis, will include South Orange Trustee Stephen Schnall, former Maplewood Mayor Jerry Ryan, Assemblywoman Mila Jasey and Kevin Brown, the N.J. director of 32BJ Service Employees International Union.
The program seeks to give citizens and all those living in the United States a better understanding of the scope of power at every level of government from local towns to the county and state level, so that they can effectively advocate for progressive political change.
“We know that many in our community are deeply concerned about the Trump administration,” George Finlay, one of the panel organizers, said in a press release. “We want people to know who their elected officials are, and to understand how to reach and engage with them. Our community should feel knowledgeable about who is representing them and the key role they must play in pushing for a progressive future.”
