Sports Media Speaker Series welcomes Bob Costas to speak at Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Famed broadcaster, journalist and author Bob Costas will headline the next installment of the Seton Hall University College of Communication and the Arts’ Sports Media Speaker Series, which features leaders in the industry talking directly to students about the changing media landscape. Taking center stage with Bob Ley, the two icons will discuss the evolution and future of the sports media industry.

Free and open to the public, “The Changing Face of Sports Media” will be Monday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Bethany Hall, 400 South Orange Ave. in South Orange. To register, visit www.shu.edu/communication-arts/the-changing-face-of-sports-media.cfm.

“The Changing Face of Sports Media,” co-sponsored by the Stillman School of Business, will feature the two titans in broadcasting. Ley and Costas have more than 80 years of experience between them and have won dozens of Emmys as well as a Peabody and a Walter Cronkite Award.

“In many ways, there is almost no one better qualified to talk about the changing face of sports media than Bob Costas,” said Ley, who spent nearly 40 years at ESPN. “He has never shied away from controversy, and with a career that has spanned more than 40 years at the pinnacle of the sporting world he knows the game — and the games within the game — the pressure points, the networks and what it means to be, if you will, ‘outside the lines.’”
