TSTI adult ed class on navigating social media for news

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — In today’s world of myriad social media and online news sources, it can be difficult to know which outlets to turn to for accurate reporting. Rabbi Daniel Cohen of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel in South Orange will lead a class titled “Finding Social Media Sources to Understand the Jewish World” on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. The class is free and open to the public. TSTI is located at 432 Scotland Road. Register at http://bit.ly/adultedsocialmedia.

During this session, Cohen will share a variety of different places one can turn to for information on the Jewish world; examine the approach they take and the bias they may bring to sourcing reports; and how that bias may impact the words they choose and the perspective they provide. Attendees will also look at how various approaches can shape perspective as well as the image of Jews, Judaism and Israel.
