SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel, the Reform synagogue in South Orange, invites the wider community to the following free events in January:
- On Thursday, Jan. 4, Michael Levi, the community shaliach from the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest will present “Israel as a Melting Pot” at 7 p.m. Levi will discuss how Israeli society has become so diverse, dynamic and challenged, leading attendees through a dialogue about Israel’s transition from total melting pot to a multicultural country. - On Friday, Jan. 26, families with young children are invited to TSTI’s Young Family Tu B’Shevat Celebration and Dinner at 5 p.m. This program, about the New Year of the Trees, is for children from pre-school through second grade. The special evening will include a fun Tu B’Shevat activity while learning about the environment. Everyone is welcome to stay for TSTI’s Shabbat service at 6. A pizza dinner will be served; gluten-free and dairy-free options are available upon advance request.
