SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — The seventh-grade students at the Linda and Rudy Slucker Religious School at Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel in South Orange got into the holiday spirit recently. In celebration of Hanukkah, they learned how to make potato latkes from scratch for themselves to enjoy; to honor the wider community during the holiday season, they also made blankets and filled socks with treats to give to clients of the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges, which serves residents of Orange and East Orange who are facing food insecurity. The students filled each sock with hot cocoa mix, candy, tissues and other small items as part of this social action project.
