Village sees 3 power outages in just 2 weeks

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Three power outages affected 881 PSE&G customers in South Orange in the last two weeks and have now been corrected, according to the power company in an email to the News-Record on Feb. 1.

Lauren Ugorji, the communications consultant for PSE&G, said that the first outage was caused by high winds. The second and third outages were caused by equipment failures on a circuit that affected the 881 customers in South Orange.

Village President Sheena Collum deferred questions to Village Administrator Adam Loehner, who did not respond to a request for comment by press time on Feb. 5.

“PSE&G is aware of the recent outages and understands the inconvenience they cause our customers,” Ugorji said. “We are working on a plan to improve the reliability of this circuit, which we will discuss with municipal officials soon.”
