Holy Spirit Food Pantry opens in Verona

VER-food pantry-WVERONA, NJ – The Holy Spirit Food Pantry will be open on the fourth Saturday of every month, beginning April 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is open to anyone with a need and no questions — except for your zip code — will be asked. The Holy Spirit Food Pantry is located in the lower level of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 36 Gould St. in Verona. Shoppers may drop in on Saturday or contact the church office at 973-239-2850 or office@holyspiritverona.org in advance to arrange for a private pickup or dropoff.

After Verona-resident and Holy Spirit member Mary Garland announced the opening of the food pantry to the community in January, there was an outpouring of support. Thanks to the generosity of many local individuals and community groups, the Holy Spirit Food Pantry is now well-stocked with non-perishable food items and toiletries that have been sorted, stacked and are ready to give away.

“Life circumstances — the illness of a family member, the loss of a job — sometimes create times of need,” the Rev. Jerry Racioppi, the rector at Holy Spirit Verona, said in a release. “No one should have to go hungry.”

After the opening on April 23, the Holy Spirit Food Pantry will be open every fourth Saturday of the month. May 28 and June 25 are the next two days it will be open.

People are invited to call the church office with any questions about the Holy Spirit Food Pantry at 973-239-2850.
