WEST ORANGE, NJ — As part of Jewish Disabilities and Awareness and Inclusion month, Shabbat Shalem on Feb. 8 and 9 will reflect on how to better include people with challenges in the Jewish community — not just for this one Shabbat but all the time. Whatever the disability or challenge, all Jews are entitled and should be made to feel like an important part of Am Yisrael.
Scholar-in-residence Jeff Lichtman, executive director emeritus of Yachad, the national Jewish council for disabilities, will be a featured speaker for Shabbat Shalem in West Orange.
Chabad of West Orange, 401 Pleasant Valley Way, will host a community Shabbat dinner on Friday, Feb. 8, starting with candle lighting at 5 p.m., Shabbat services at 5:15 p.m., and dinner and programming at 6 p.m. RSVP is required; call 973-325-6311 or visit www.chabadwestorange.com/fnd.
On Saturday, Feb. 9, Lichtman will speak during morning services at Congregation AABJ&D, 700 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange, and during seudat shlishit at Congregation Ohr Torah, 270 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange.
