Cliffs residents provide supplies to needy children in Ethiopia

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Cliffs at Eagle Rock, an assisted living facility in West Orange, have been raising funds to provide supplies such as coloring books, crayons, pencils, pens, notebooks, flip flop sandals, lollipops, sharpeners and erasers, to an orphanage and school in Ethiopia.

Residents at the Cliffs took on a goal of raising $300 for the project, but raised $426 instead, which is enough to cover not only supplies but airline shipping fees as well. But they are still doing more. During the month of July, residents will be raising funds to send a child to camp.

“You have to understand, these children ages 3 to 10 years have not even seen a coloring book.  Imagine how the will feel when they see the generous school kits from the Cliffs residents,” Emma Beth, a graduate of the orphanage herself, said when she saw the gifts. She will be bringing the gift packs with her as she begins her annual five-week journey to her hometown to give back to the school and orphanage that was her home for so many years.
