WEST ORANGE, NJ — Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr., center, announced that work to repair the Tulip Springs Bridge in the South Mountain Reservation started Sept. 30. Built in 1920, the historic structure is undergoing a renovation. During construction, the roadway leading to the Tulip Springs picnic area will remain open.
Displaying an artist’s rendering of the project with DiVincenzo are, from left, Assistant County Engineer Luis Rodriguez, Parks Director Dan Salvante, Drew Lillis from the Essex County Public Works Department, Frank Seney from Remington and Vernick, Essex County Public Works Director and County Engineer Sanjeev Varghese, DiVincenzo’s granddaughter Hailey Root, Greg Nauha and Michael Lettieri from Remington and Vernick, and Brian Fagersten from Sparwick.
Remington and Vernick from Edison was awarded a professional services contract for $190,000 for design and inspection services. Sparwick Contracting from Lafayette was awarded a publicly-bid contract for $394,375 to perform the construction work. The project is estimated to take two months to complete.
