Downtown Alliance unveils vintage calendar of Thomas Edison’s inventions

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Thomas Edison’s inventions are saluted in a 2019 calendar from the Downtown West Orange Alliance. “The 1935 Vintage Calendar” is comprised of photos drawn from the renowned inventor’s many works.

The vintage graphics have been reproduced just as they appeared in 1935, and include the calendar days of that year, which are identical to 2019. Each month of the calendar showcases Edison’s many contributions to various industries. The cover features a 1980s aerial view of the Edison Storage Battery Building, which is a recurring theme throughout the calendar. The building was constructed from 1909 through 1914 and is the last surviving Edison building from a once sprawling manufacturing complex.

The calendar is available for purchase at www.downtownWO.com. Purchases can also be made in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall in the Mayor’s Office or Downtown Alliance Office, located on the lower-level. A limited quantity is available while supplies last.
