WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange police say an incident Thursday night, Sept. 22, that left a township man with minor injuries was not a random act, according to a Sept. 23 press release from the township.
Police received reports of shots fired in the area of Lowell Place on Sept. 22 just after 10 p.m. The resident reported that he was approached from behind by a man, a struggle ensued, and he was left with cuts and bruises to his hands.
It appears the victim was targeted.
The man was treated on scene and refused further medical attention.
Robbery is not believed to be a motive in this incident. The victim is cooperating with police and this is an active investigation.
Police are looking for a dark-colored Nissan Altima that witnesses say may be connected to the incident.
