MONTCLAIR / WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Montclair Foundation has awarded a $2,000 grant to Main St. Counseling Center, a nonprofit community mental health agency based in West Orange. The grant will support services for Montclair residents who might otherwise be unable to access counseling services, especially those without health insurance or who are on Medicaid. Main St. Counseling’s mission for nearly 40 years has been to provide effective and affordable mental health services for individuals and families throughout northern New Jersey.

“We’re going to use this grant to immediately increase the number of therapy sessions for our neighbors in Montclair. We are so grateful to the Montclair Foundation for this generous gift,” Main St. Counseling Executive Director Steve Margeotes said in a press release.

Main St. Counseling has grown in recent years, driven by increased demand for counseling services and an array of community partnerships with local schools and senior homes where the organization provides therapy on-site. The four-decade-old agency currently sees more than 50 Montclair residents per week, with a sliding scale fee and a diverse and highly culturally competent clinical staff. Main St. Counseling plans to increase the number of Montclair residents it provides services for in the coming year.

The Montclair Foundation supports nonprofits that meet health, educational, cultural, social service and quality of life needs for the Montclair community.
