Nominate a neighbor to be honored by WO on MLK Day

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Human Relations Commission will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day ceremony on Monday, Jan. 21, at which time it will honor a local man or woman who embodies the same qualities and ideals as King.

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday celebrates the life and legacy of a man who brought hope and freedoms to America. This year’s theme, “A Love for Service,” will commemorate the timeless ideals he embodied and lived: the values of service, courage, truth, justice, compassion dignity and humility. Being a servant leader means putting the interests of others before your own. This year, we want to highlight West Orange residents and/or West Orange employees who have had their hands in furthering service in the community. There are those whose passion to serve will continue to ensure equality for all. Let us celebrate serving others and unique contributions provided by those who ensure that our human rights are protected.

Please take this opportunity to nominate a West Orange resident or employee whom you feel has served others with excellence. The nominee should be available to be acknowledged and awarded on the morning on Jan. 21 at a township ceremony. In accordance with this year’s theme of celebrating “A Love for Service,” the nominee should embody these values professionally, personally and socially.
