Race for the Cure opens with ribbon-cutting ceremony

WO-komen ribbon cutting-WWEST ORANGE, NJ — Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. and Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura were among the honorees and dignitaries who participated in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony that kicked off the Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure’s 5K Walk. The annual event, which was held May 1 at the South Mountain Recreation Complex in West Orange, drew more than 2,500 people who braved the rain and chilly temperatures to raise more than $500,000 for the fight against breast cancer.
