WEST ORANGE, NJ — Barry H. Ostrowsky, president and chief executive officer for RWJBarnabas Health, was recently named one of the “25 Most Influential People in New Jersey” by NJ Advance Media. This annual ranking recognizes exceptional individuals in the Garden State with the innate ability to effect change, according to a release.
In creating this year’s list, NJ Advance Media considered relevance in social, political and cultural realms, as well as an “X-Factor” to develop their scorecard. Ostrowsky, the leader of New Jersey’s largest not-for-profit integrated health care delivery system, RWJBarnabas Health, the second largest private employer in the state, is in great company. Also ranked on this list are Robert Barchi, president of Rutgers University; Gov. Chris Christie; Bruce Springsteen; Jon Bon Jovi; U.S. Sen. Cory Booker; and comedian Stephen Colbert.
Ostrowsky leads RWJBarnabas Health’s initiatives ensuring the highest quality health care for patients, and is spearheading a statewide endeavor to promote wellness and healthier living for all employees and the diverse communities it serves.
He has also been very vocal in speaking out about the need for more women leaders in executive positions and positions of power.
“I am proud of the efforts that we are making at our own institution, but there is always room for growth,” he said in the release. “The time has come for an honest conversation about the role that men, including myself, must play in ensuring equal access to leadership for women. The bottom line is that decisionmakers in nearly every industry are men, and therefore it is incumbent upon us to facilitate the change needed.”
