WEST ORANGE, NJ — When some classmates from Seton Hall Prep Class of 1971 realized that the pandemic would derail their 50th reunion plans, they took matters into their own hands with an unofficial private event. On Sept. 18, 50 prepsters joined at the Monmouth Park Race Track to reconnect and reminisce under a beautiful blue sky.

“Getting together to celebrate 50 years was important to us, and we thought we could do it safely by hosting an outdoor event. The real challenge was tracking everyone down,” organizer Joe Andolino said.

With the help of social media, and Andolino’s more tech-savvy daughter, event planner Jackie Andolino Fogartie, the contact list grew from 10 graduates to 60 over the course of a few months, resulting in many emails.

“We hope that this private event builds momentum for the Prep-sponsored reunion taking place in June 2022, exact date to be determined,” Andolino said.

Members of the SHP Class of 1971 who are interested in next year’s reunion should email [email protected] to be added to the contact list. The 1971 class had 212 graduates.
