WEST ORANGE, NJ — The events in Charlottesville, Va., on Aug. 11 and 12 and the raging debate it has spawned was a watershed moment in America. According to West Orange Unity, a recently created group, this is a dangerous time for the nation as some try to use our differences to drive wedges between us. While others promote hate and violence, West Orange Unity feels the community must respond with faith, love and support for one another.
Attend a “Unity in our Community” rally on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4, at 9 a.m. on the steps of West Orange Town Hall, 66 Main St.
This approximately hourlong event is not political and is not associated with any political organization. This is a grassroots effort to celebrate diversity as a community and make a public statement of unity against bigotry. There will be no political speeches and attendees are asked to leave their politics and political paraphernalia at home that day.
