WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Public Library is marking one year since home delivery and curbside pickup services began. In July, the Library will commemorate a year of being open for in-person services.
On Monday, June 14, the library resumed normal hours and welcomed non-residents of West Orange. Senior hours and curbside pickup have been discontinued and cardholders can now return materials inside the library.
To meet community needs during the pandemic, the library added streaming services Kanopy and hoopla to access ebooks, audiobooks, movies and other electronic media. From March 2020 to March 2021, the library offered 156 youth and 129 adult virtual programs. Other programs included weekly take-home do-it-yourself kits for children, book clubs and socially distanced science experiments.

Those visiting the library in person will notice glass around the loaner computer stations and public service desks. Steps the library has undertaken to keep everyone safe that are less visible include regularly performed surface cleaning and the installation of Carrier OptiClean hospital-grade air scrubbers.
