WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Township Council presented a resolution to the members of the Board of Education proclaiming the month of January as School Board Recognition Month at the Feb. 9 council meeting.

Superintendent of Schools Jeff Rutzky, BOE President Laura Lab, Vice President Mark Robertson and board members Irv Schwarzbaum and Sandra Mordecai were on hand to receive the proclamation, presented by former BOE member and current Councilwoman Michelle Casalino and Council President Victor Cirilo.
Assemblyman John McKeon had attended the Jan. 19 Board of Education meeting to present a resolution for School Board Recognition month from Sen. Richard Codey, Assemblywoman Mila Jasey and himself.

“What you do is a labor of love for literally thousands of children. You are truly West Orange heroes,” McKeon said as he presented them with a resolution signed by Codey, Jasey and himself.
