WEST ORANGE, NJ — Daughters of Israel recently spearheaded a fundraising drive for victims of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti. Over the course of three weeks, staff members donated clothing, linens and nonperishable items such as canned food and soap. The UPS Store in West Orange partnered with Daughters of Israel to ship out the boxes, underwriting a portion of the cost.

“The devastation hit close to home as a number of the home’s staff members have families in Haiti who were directly impacted by the hurricane,” DOI Executive Director Susan Grosser said in a press release. “In addition to the tragic loss of life on such a large scale, there were about 175,000 people left homeless. We felt it was our responsibility to help in any way we could, so we decided to launch this drive.”
