WOPD officers join annual Movember campaign

WEST ORANGE, NJ — It’s time to grow the mo’! Entering a fifth year of participation, men in the township of West Orange are once again growing moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness and funds as part of the global Movember campaign. Over the past five years, the West Orange team has raised more than $50,000, which has gone directly to help fund more than 1,200 projects, making huge progress in the battle against prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health issues and suicide. As a special addition this year, several members of the West Orange Police Department have joined the team and will be showing off their moustaches in the field, on patrol and within the community.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, the “West Orange Mo’s” invite everyone to join them at their annual fundraising event, “Bowling for Men’s Health,” which will take place at Eagle Rock Lanes, 424 Eagle Rock Ave. in West Orange, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

“This is a great event for both men and women to come meet others in the community, have a great night out, and raise money for a great cause,” West Orange Movember team captain Perry Bashkoff said. “Over the past five years we’ve had great support from the community, the schools and local businesses; we’re excited and honored that the police department decided to join us this year. Even if you’re not growing the ’stache, this event is another positive opportunity to bring the community together.”

There’s still time to join the team or donate to the cause. Those interested in either joining or donating can visit www.westorange.org/movember. For more information on Movember, visit www.movember.com.
