Ann Murray, 104, passed away peacefully with her daughter Julia by her side on Monday, August 15, 2016 in West Orange, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Ann grew up in Newark, and lived in East Orange for 50 years, before settling in West Orange. She attended and graduated from Upsala College in East Orange. She taught Biology in the Newark School System for 40 years. In her retirement, Ann volunteered at numerous places including the Newark Museum, St. Barnabas Medical Center, and the Summit Ridge Nursing Home. She was also a member of the West Orange Women’s Club and a member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Joseph’s Parish, West Orange. In her free time, Ann enjoyed reading, traveling the world, the arts, and knitting.
Ann was predeceased by beloved husband Eugene J. Murray. She is survived by her loving daughters Ann Bengivenni (Bruce) and Julia Caprario (Louis), her grandchildren John, Dana, Laura, and Joseph, and her great-grandchildren Braeden and Jonathan, as well as many extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 3-7 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ. Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, August 20 at 10AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 44 Benvenue Avenue, West Orange, NJ, with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange.
